BEDMAS

In equations, do your work in this order:

1. Brackets

2. Exponents

3. Division and multiplication in order from left to right

4. Addition and subtraction in order from left to right

Here’s an example…

                        (3 x 4) + 2⁴ – 10 ÷ 2 + 5 x 3

            B          = 12  + 2⁴ – 10 ÷ 2 + 5 x 3

            E          = 12  + 16 – 10 ÷ 2 + 5 x 3

            DM      =  12 + 16 –      5      +    15 

            AS        =      48  (Tip: remember to add & subtract in order from left to right.)
