Compound sentences have two or more main clauses.
Each clause has it’s own subject and verb.
The clauses may be joined by any of the following:
1. a semicolon (“)
2. a comma and a conjunction

Transition words may also be used . . .
. . . after the semicolon or the comma and conjunction.
furthermore,      similarly,
in addition,         however,
moreover,         therefore,
generally,         on the whole,
for the most part,      consequently,
