Think you don’t have homework tonight?
I. Check the guidelines for your grade level.
It is often suggested that you complete 10 minutes of homework for every grade you are in school. So, if you are in grade 8, you should expect 80 minutes of homework per week day. In addition, it is wise to read for a minimum of 30 minutes to maintain and improve your skills.
II. Check this list as you complete your work.
A. English
- 1. Revise this week’s assignments until they are of excellent quality. ____
- 2. Organize your binder or duotang so that all assignments are neatly filed. ______
- 3. Spend 10 minutes reviewing your notes on grammar and punctuation in order to memorize the rules and be prepared for tests. ______
- 4. Spend at least 30 minutes reading books: novels, picture books, or nonfiction books about topics you are studying in Science or Social Studies. Â ________
B. Science
- 1. Revise this week’s assignments until they are of excellent quality. ____
- 2. Organize your binder or duotang so that all assignments are neatly filed. ______
- 3. Spend 10 minutes studying science facts to put them in into your memory bank. _____
- 4. Spend time doing research about topics being studied in class. _____
C. Art
- 1. Spend time working on your current art assignment. _____
- 2. Spend at least 10 minutes practising your handwriting or drawing/colouring a picture of your choice. ______
D. Math
- 1. Neatly finish your assignments, showing all your work. ____
- 2. Organize your binder or duotang so that all assignments are neatly filed. ______
- 3. Spend 10 minutes reviewing math concepts to memorize the rules, practise the skills, and be prepared for tests. ______
E. Social Studies
- 1. Revise this week’s assignments until they are of excellent quality. ____
- 2. Organize your binder or duotang so that all assignments are neatly filed. ______
- 3. Spend 10 minutes reviewing concepts to memorize the information and be prepared for tests. ______
- 4. Spend time working on any assigned projects. _____
